TRINITY’S ADVENTURE
TRINITY’S ADVENTURE
April 15th, 2024 was a very challenging day for a special little puppy named “Trinity.” I first met Trinity when a young man carrying a large back pack on his back, was holding a little puppy in his arms when he came into the Aspen Mine Center. The man was clearly distraught and tearful as he explained to me and another co-worker his puppy had just been hit by a car and he didn’t know what to do or where to go. He was pleading for help for his little companion who laid in his arms not moving.
The man introduced himself and his 3 month-old puppy, “Trinity” and we all walked back to the café area where he was able to sit with Trinity laid across his lap. Trinity was not moving much, was shaking and whimpering and there were visual markings on her legs and body from where she had been hit by the car. More co-workers came and joined in our concern for Trinity. We all knew she needed to be evaluated and seen by a vet. Our deep concern was how to get Trinity to a vet and the expense. The man told us his story of how he arrived here after just spending the last several months walking with his companion from Florida before arriving in Cripple Creek. My co-workers and I spoke with the Executive Director and it was decided if we could find a vet who would see Trinity on an emergency basis, the Aspen Mine Center would cover the expense up to a certain amount. Many calls were made to area vets. The only vet who agreed to see Trinity was a vet named Dr. Steiner at Rampart Range Veterinary Clinic in Woodland Park. A time was set up and now the question came of how to get the man and Trinity to Dr. Steiner’s office. Just then, at the exact time, a gentleman in a very dressy black suit appeared back in the café area where we all were. He looked very concerned and asked how the puppy was doing and if there was anything he could do. When I told him we had a vet appointment scheduled in Woodland Park, and that we were trying to figure out how to get the man and his puppy there, the gentleman, without hesitation, kindly said: “I will take them”. The gentleman then said he was only able to take them to the vet in Woodland Park because he had to get to Colorado Springs. We watched as the gentleman, man and little Trinity loaded into the car and drove away.
Later in the day, I was so delighted to see that same young man walk through the Aspen Mine Center’s doors with Trinity after her vet appointment with Dr. Steiner. It was Dr. Steiner’s husband who gave them a ride back to Cripple Creek. Trinity had some x-rays taken and nothing appeared to be broken. Her ribs were bruised, she had some cuts and scrapes and was given some pain medication and antibiotics. Trinity would be fine. All of us were relieved and so happy for the man and his beloved companion. It was very clear they had developed a strong bond in Trinity’s short life span.
I have no doubt Divine Intervention played a major role in Trinity’s adventure. That young man and his beloved companion, Trinity, have etched a very special memory in all of our hearts here at the Aspen Mine Center. I know we are all grateful to be able to be a part of Trinity’s adventure!
