This is Krys Arrick (from the Aspen Mine Center Client Services) writing today about a new program we are rolling out to benefit unhoused students and their families at CC-V School District RE-1. It has come to our attention that an unprecedented number of children preschool -12th grade who attend our school are without a permanent place to live, and have the typical needs that come with homelessness.
Our client services department is hoping to help alleviate some of the difficulties faced by these families by offering donation drop-off boxes at both AMC locations and possibly a few other locations in the community. Our goal is to gather donations of designated items during the months of September, October and November.
Our Wish list for the next few months is posted below. Donation boxes will be located in the entry of both AMC East and West locations for drop-off, or you may contact me at the phone numbers below for pick-up.
This is just the beginning, more details to come!

Wednesday Community Lunch
Yes, there is such a thing as a free lunch.
Each Wednesday, the Aspen Mine Center, in partnership with local churches, clubs, agencies and community volunteers, provides a community luncheon (for optional donation) that welcomes all community members. For many, this is the only nutritious meal they have all week. This program “builds a healthy community” by enhancing neighborhood attachment, prosocial engagement, connecting clients to local resources, promoting intergenerational and cross-economic
interaction and acceptance.
A comfortable dining room to enjoy a meal with old friends
and make new ones
A hot, healthy lunch complete with everything from salad through dessert,
including hot and cold beverages
Great food, terrific opportunities for socializing,
a fun and relaxing time for all!
