Ted Borden has been the Executive Director for the Community of Caring Foundation since 2012. He was hired by Community of Caring in 2001 to coordinate the development of the Aspen Mine Center, the community one-stop-shop resource center. In the past 18 years he has served over 15,000 clients and families.
Ted holds a Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Psychology and an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences in Mental Health Technology from Purdue University. He has extensive experience in human services, specializing in children assistance programs, long-term care programs and service coordination.
Originally from Fort Wayne IN, Ted is one of seven absolutely goofy siblings. He has lived in Teller County for more than 30 years and has no desire to ever leave the mountains. He has been married to his amazing wife Shelly for 13 years, has two wonderful grown children and three grandchildren who are his absolute joy.
He is whole-heartedly committed to this community and the unique challenges faced by families here. He is passionate, energetic and deeply dedicated to bringing families, agencies, businesses, schools and government entities together to develop programs and services to “build a healthy community.” His greatest heroes are the clients and families who resist falling prey to being a victim, are driven by positivity and selflessness, and rise above great adversity to become positive mentors to others.
