Krys joined the Community of Caring/Aspen Mine Center family in 2017 as the Medicaid Health Care Coordinator. In July 2021, she was selected by Community of Caring to create a new “Family and Adult Advocate” position through a grant with the Colorado Springs Health Partners. She loves that her co-workers say “we waited a long time for you to work here” and feels extremely blessed to work with the people of the Cripple Creek/Victor community.
Krys and her husband Bill were college sweethearts, and will soon celebrate their 44th anniversary. They moved their family from the plains of Nebraska to the plains of Colorado in 1992, and finally made it to the mountains of southern Teller County in 1994.
Krys believes that her heart and soul lies with young children and families. In 2009 she graduated from Regis University with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She worked as a preschool teacher and early childhood education program manager in the Cripple Creek-Victor School District Head Start program for 10 years. It is a natural extension of this experience for her now to find connections that bring closure to complicated and multi-faceted needs faced by some of our local families.
Krys loves knitting, sheep, PBS, and chocolate. In addition to her 3 sons, she has 5 grandchildren who are the reason she cherishes her vacation days!
