Hello! My name is Nicole Walker and I’m the Senior Advocate Manager at Community of Caring. Originally from New York, I moved to Colorado in 2018 because I love the mountains and wanted a change in scenery. When I first moved here I was shocked to see the number of homeless individuals, something I had never experienced in my small New York town, and knew that I wanted to help. I spent some time working for an insurance agency in Colorado Springs, but eventually discovered the Aspen Mine Center and began to learn more about what the organization does within the Community. I decided that I wanted to become a part of this amazing place and I feel extremely blessed to be here.
In my spare time I enjoy playing video games, lately I’ve been into Minecraft Dungeons and League of Legends. I also enjoy reading, mainly fantasy. My favorites over the years are the Wheel of Time series, the Runelords’ series and the vast Shannara universe! We have two wonderful dogs, Flash and Zeb, as well as our two cats Sunny and Luna. I also like to paint from time to time; generally using ink, watercolors or acrylics.
Both the community and my colleagues have been incredibly welcoming and kind, it did not take long for me to feel at home and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
