Energy Assistance Programs are in Three Categories:
LEAP (Low Income Energy Assistance Program)
– Pays heating bills (electric, natural gas, propane), $200 – $1000
– Once per heating season, Nov. 1 – April 30
– Request application at: 1-866-HEAT_HELP (1-866-432-8435) or at cdhs.colorado.gov/leap
– AMC can help with application
– Eligibility and documentation requirements in slides to right
EOC (Energy Outreach Colorado)
– Pays for past-due electric or gas bills and to refill propane (up to $1000 for each bill)
– Delivered through energy assistance partner agencies (AMC is one)
– Households can apply once per year, year-round, beginning in October
– Eligibility requirements in slides to right
WAP (Weatherization Assistance Program)
– Home energy; efficiency improvements to save on utility bills and increase home comfort and safety
– The Energy Resource Center in Colorado Springs serves El Paso, Teller and Fremont Counties (719) 591-0772
– Available to homeowners, renters, single family homes, multi-family homes/apartments
– Eligibility 80% of Area Median Income, LEAP, SNAP, TANF, SSI (Income guidelines in slides to right)
– Insulation, weather sealing, lighting, repair/replace home heating and water heating appliances
